St. Giles is a Church of England parish church. We seek to make the love of God known to all in Orton Parish and beyond, through our worship, fellowship and outreach.
St. Giles is the parish church of Baldwinholme, Great Orton, Little Orton and Orton Rigg.
The eastern quarter of our church building was built in 1098. St. Giles is a Grade II* Listed Building, built of sandstone blocks from Hadrian's Wall. The church is situated in the village of Great Orton. It is reputed to have been the first church built in Cumberland following the Norman Conquest.
There has been a Worshipping Congregation here for over 900 years, though most of us are a lot younger than that! We would love you to join us as we continue that tradition.
As the Family of God in our community, we worship Jesus and go out to serve the local community with His Love.
